The Animal Management programme aims at providing feed & health care support to the cattle for better physical growth and development. Under this programme, three types of project viz: Heifer Rearing Project, Adult Cattle Feed Project and Productivity Enhancement Camp are being implemented by BIRVA in all the 24 districts of Jhrakhand through its dairy cattle development center.
Heifer Rearing Project
Heifer rearing project was launched in year June 2009 under the sponsorship of Directorate of Dairy Development (Dept. of AH & Fisheries) Govt. of Jharkhand under RKVY scheme. The objective of the project is to attain early maturity of heifer thus provide longer lactation & healthy life.
Under this project, following activities are carried out:
- All female calves in the operational DCDC area are registered and tagged.
- Concentrate feed on Rs.5/kg & Calf starter on 100% subsidy is distributed to calves owner.
- All the registered calves are dewormed and vaccinated.
- Insurance of registered calves
Adult Cattle Feed Project
Adult cattle feed project was launched under the sponsorship of Directorate of Dairy Development (Dept. of AH & Fisheries) Govt. of Jharkhand under RKVY scheme in January 2010. Under the project adult cattle are provided 4 kg of feed/day. The reason behind this feed support is to ensure increase in milk production & healthy life of cows. 2 cows per farmers are given benefits under this project. Adult cattle feed on a maximum subsidy of Rs.2.50/Kg is distributed through dairy cattle development centre.
Productivity Enhancement Camp
Productivity enhancement camp is basically animal health camp in which general & reproductive health problem of animal is diagnosed and treatment for the same is done by Veterinary Doctors. Nutritional supplement and medicine are also distributed free of cost.
